Alexander Nix, CEO of Cambridge Analytics, is a data analytics expert helping companies and political parties gain an understanding of their population targets, and in so doing, to craft the perfect strategies in order to gain maximum exposure and benefit.

Educated at Eton College and Manchester University, Alexander Nix started his career as a financial analyst with Baring Securities, Mexico. Thereafter, he worked with Robert Fraser & Partnership LLP in the United Kingdom. They are a boutique Corporate Finance and tax advisory film.

Alexander left finance in 2003, joining the SCL group as a Director. Amongst his responsibilities were included growing SCL internationally and opening new markets for the company’s behavioural products and services.

In 2007, Alexander’s efforts were directed to developing the elections division, which included establishing new offices across the globe, including Washington DC and Delhi with a combined staff upwards of 300 people.

SCL global was started in 2010. It is a non-profit international development agency that is dedicated to applying SCL’s behavioural change communication strategies to different humanitarian, health, and also development projects globally.

Cambridge Analytica was created in 2013 as an offshoot of the British SCL group. Cambridge Analytica combines data mining and analysis with strategic communication during electoral processes, amongst others.  The company’s main areas of expertise include data analysis, i.e. data cleanse, data infrastructure, and data analysis and market research combined with behavioural science.

The company’s research augments broad consumer self-identifiers with intrinsic behaviour modifiers that investigate the reasons people make certain decisions. They are thus able to supply clients with an in-depth understanding of their customer base.

Furthermore, by profiling and segmenting customers according to personality traits, they are better abled to advise clients as to the type of messages and campaigns their customers are more likely to respond to.
