Russian-born Anatole Kaletsky is an award-winning journalist, financial economist, and businessman. With his wider comprehension than most of the current economic issues, Anatole, in his provocative yet charming style, speaks on a range of topics in his particular field.
After gaining his degree in Mathematics at King’s College, Cambridge, Anatole went on to gain a masters degree in economics at Harvard University, where he was a Kennedy Memorial Scholar.
Kaletsky joined The Economist in 1976 and wrote about business and finance. This was followed by a position at the Financial Times, where he filled a number of positions, including that of New York Bureau Chief, Washington Correspondent, International Economics Correspondent, and Moscow Correspondent.
The start of 1990 saw him as Economics Editor of the Times, to be followed by Editor-at-Large. In 2012, however, Anatoly took on a position in the Analysis and Opinion section of Reuters’ online newspaper, writing a weekly column. Kaletsky has, since 2015, written articles for Prospect Magazine and Project Syndicate.
Besides his work as a journalist and economics commentator, Anatole also fills the role of Chief Economist and Co-Chairman of Gavekal Dragonomics, a global consultancy with its focus on Chinese markets and economics. Part of his role includes economic forecasting, consulting, and analysis for international organisations, financial institutions, and multinationals.
