“…made a profound impact on my thought processes”
“As leaders, we identify with the water in which you find yourself”
“As a full time professional speaker and teacher of other speakers, I can be a little critical. Not unkindly, just looking for improvement. Carina Bruwer has been on the periphery of my life for a few years now. I've interviewed her on radio, been to her shows and read about her extreme swimming exploits in the newspaper. But recently I've had the privilege to help her take her latest presentation to higher level. I should have anticipated it but Carina is a perfectionist. It has to be right and she demanded feedback until she felt her presentation was getting to a place where she was happy. I was invited to listen to her speak at a recent event, aptly called "Be Inspired". I knew her talk but I was not prepared for the consumate display she put on that evening. Her ability as a musician and flautist was first one display. To watch an Afrikaans classical musician magically transform into "Carlos Santana" was not only remarkable but also very moving. She moved on to her incredible career as one of the worlds greatest long distance swimmers. She speaks of her why, how she manages to push herself beyond what most of us consider possible and I was left in awe of the human spirit. But while she was demonstrating her enormous skill and determination I never lost the connection with Carina, the woman. Carina the mother. Carina the person, who just wants to be good at what she does. She is truly incredible and she can add "professional speaker" to her long list of credits. Truly an inspiration!”
