A seasoned professional who has, throughout her career, interviewed hundreds of people encompassing many different fields, Carla Rocha is able to talk about any topic – simply and in a laid-back style. Carla’s argument is that no topics are boring, as interest depends on your perspective and communication. Her excellent communications skills see her lecturing students studying for the Communication Science degree at the European University and doing training in effective communication at numerous Portuguese companies.
Her company Carla Rocha Communication has, as its aim, the development of communication competence in entrepreneurs, managers, and companies. In so doing, their communication skills are improved, bettering their relationship with their various teams, partners, and client base.
Besides her speaking, training, and educational jobs, Carla also coordinates the Portuguese Olympic Committee’s “Athlete Speakers” programme. This programme sees her guide and train Portuguese Olympic athletes such as Telma Monteiro, Jessica Augusto, or Naide Gomes in effective communication. In so doing, she helps them to make an impact on audiences when doing presentations at schools or companies.
Carla holds a degree in Communication Science and a postgraduate degree in Marketing Management, Communication and Media at the Superior Institute of Economics and Management (ISEG). Amongst the numerous communications talks and conventions she has participated in, Carla counts the National Speakers Association in the United States (Philadelphia 2013, San Diego 2014, Washington 2015, Phoenix 2016 and Orlando 2017), numerous universities worldwide, as well as companies.
Carla has taken her communications expertise a step further and is the author of the highly acclaimed “Speak less, communicate more – 10 strategies to become a great communicator. “ She has also written several articles on communication and been published in several books and magazines.
As a speaker, Carla Rocha indeed practices what she preaches to the fullest degree. She not only inspires her audiences but leaves them with wonderful takeaways that they can easily incorporate not only their business life but their personal lives as well.
“I believe that the power of communication affects us all, improves our personal and professional relationships and increases opportunities that we would hardly achieve if we could not express ourselves accordingly.” – Carla Rocha
Speaking Topics
"We are really overall really happy with the speeches and both Carla and Miguel (Figueire) who were great and understood the situation when I explained to them we were having issues with the chosen AV provider. I hope we'll have the chance to collaborate again in the near future! Thank you again and wish you a nice week ahead." -- Eleonora Boni Events Operations Coordinator Logo-PNP-Firma
“Athletes and their stories are great examples of how someone is able to overcome and incorporate values in the quest for excellence – and they are true life mottos. Helping athletes to communicate these experiences, valuing their life paths and opening their careers to society, has been a path of undeniable success for Carla Rocha.”
“It was an enriching experience. I learned that life is a book of stories that we all should remember to tell. I have acquired presentation techniques that I will keep forever with me and I also learned from the experience of all the people present in that room.”
“I met Carla at the Athletes Speakers training, organized by the Portuguese Olympic Committee. I always thought public speaking was easy for me and that I conveyed my message the way I wanted to. However, working with Carla made me realize that many times our posture, our tone of voice, our gestures or even our eye contact conveys a different idea from the one we want to pass on when we communicate, and that was exactly what was happening to me. Being part of this training gave me the tools and confidence to communicate better. I realized that it does not matter how good we are at what we do, because if we do not know how to communicate clear and effectively, we will not be able to convince anyone.”
“I heard Carla Rocha’s voice on the Radio for years and I was a true fan of her. But I never thought that one day I would have the pleasure of meeting her in person and have the pleasure of taking one-to-one training in the field of communication. Whatever our job is, and even in our personal relationships, we can improve the way we convey our message. Keeping it simple and clear is an art. This art is not only mastered by Carla, but is also accessible through this book, with all its practical tips – it is a precious instrument of personal and professional improvement.”
“I changed 300% of the way I am, I am much more confident and I am now able to create positive experiences for the people I have professional meetings with.”
