Considered one of the leading experts in business strategy and strategic innovation in the world, Costas Markides currently holds the position of Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the London Business School. He holds the Robert P. Bauman Chair of Strategic Leadership. He has appeared on the Thinkers50 list on numerous occasions and is considered one of the world’s top management experts.
Regarding his educational background, Costas Markides has a BA in Economics from Boston University in the USA, and both an MBA and DBA in Management from Harvard Business School. His previous working experience saw him work as an associate with the Cyprus Development Bank and as a research associate at Harvard Business School. He later joined the London Business School where he has taught in numerous in-company programmes. He also serves on several academic journals’ editorial boards. Other positions held include serving on the board of the Strategic Management Society and the Academic Board of the Cyprus International Institute of Management.
A bestselling author of note who has also co-authored books with various other experts, his books cover a wide range of business topics. These include, amongst others, strategic innovation, international acquisitions, business model innovation, and corporate restructuring. He has also made many contributions to several leading management and academic journals. Examples of these include the Sloan Management Review and the Harvard Business Review. He is also a board member of various editorial boards. These include the Academy of Management Prospectives, Journal of Strategy and Management, and Sloan Management Review, amongst various others. As a member of the Academy of Management and the Strategic Management Society, he took part in the Davos World Economic Forum during the periods 1999-2003, as well as 2012-2013.
With regards to his current research, Costas Markides focuses on business management model innovation, using creativity to achieve strategic breakthroughs, and corporate entrepreneurship.
