Dr Dambisa Moyo is a global economist focusing on the macroeconomy and international affairs. She is also the bestselling author of the New York Times bestseller “Dead Aid: Why Aid is Not Working and How There Is a Better Way for Africa”, “How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly and the Stark Choices Ahead” “Winner Take All: China’s Race for Resources and What it Means for the World” “Edge of Caos” and “How boards work”
Dambisa’s educational history is impressive. She completed a PhD in Economics at Oxford University, hols and MPS from Harvard, and completed a B.S. in Chemistry and an MBA in finance from American University in Washington DC.
Her work life has taken her to over 70 countries in the last decade alone. This has allowed her to garner unique knowledge on the conflicts faced by developing countries and the interaction between politics, international finance, and developing markets. Her experiences have afforded her the ability to determine investment opportunities by capitalizing on her abilities to translate certain trends in markets, politics, and economics, and their possible impact on global business.
Amongst her many achievements, Dambisa Moyo counts being named one of the ‘100 Most Influential People in the World’ by TIME magazine, her nomination to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Forum, and being awarded the Hayek Lifetime Achievement Award (2013).
Her work has also seen her participate at the Bilderberg Conference and the U.S. Federal Reserve Jackson Hole Conference. Dambisa currently serves on the World Economic Forum’s Network of Global Agenda Councils on Global Imbalances and as a member of the Atlantic Council.
Dambisa serves on a number of boards, including of Barclays Bank, SAB Miller, and Barrick Gold. Additionally, she is a consultant to the World Bank in Washington DC and was an economist at Goldman Sachs. Dambiso is also a contributing editor to CNBC and writes articles for the Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal.
