Ellen MacArthur solo sailed around the world, completing it in record time. She raced around the world in 71 days, conquering weather, injuries and sea predators. Ellen’s sailing achievements are only part of her inspirational story. She has established The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust as a national organisation that takes young people aged between 8-24 sailing to help them regain confidence, on their way to recovery from cancer, leukaemia and other serious illness.
Having witnessed at first hand through sailing the effects we are having on the global environment she launched The Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This works through education, business innovation and thought leadership to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, circular economy.
Ellen is an inspirational personality and motivational speaker with determination and drive like few others. Ellen’s journey started when she was just a student. She saved her pocket money to buy herself a mini boat. By the time she was 18, she was ready to go around Britain solo. She completed circumnavigating Britain in her pocket cruiser and was declared Young Sailor of the year. This was just the beginning. Her endurance and ambition has helped many to seek inspiration to make their dreams come true.
