Gary Vaynerchuk has come a long way since his time as an immigrant boy who could speak no English. Born in Belarus, which was formerly part of the Soviet Union, the Vaynerchuk family moved to the USA while Gary was still a child. His entrepreneurial skills, however, surfaced at an early age.
Fresh out of college, Gary managed to turn his family’s wine business, with a yearly revenue of $3million, into a $60 million venture in the space of five years. This he did by means of effective online marketing.
Since his early days as a wine marketer on Youtube, the business and marketing dynamo has managed to build up a business empire. The first step was as co-founder (with his brother) of VaynerMedia, a social-media focused digital agency. Their company provides social media as well as strategic services to a number of Fortune 500 companies, including the likes of General Electric and PepsiCo. Their success led to the company being named one of AdAge’s A-List agencies. Partnering with Vimeo, VaynerMedia now also connects brands and filmmakers with the purpose of producing digital content. But Gary did not stop there, with 2017 seeing him form a new company, The Gallery, a publishing company started after acquiring PureWow.
On a personal note, Gary has made a number of personal investments in different companies which paid off. These include PureWow, Facebook, Twitter, and Venmo, to name but a few.
Gary’s business acumen and marketing skills have seen him named one of Twitter’s Small Business Big Shots by The Wall Street Journal (2011), and by Bloomberg’s Business Week (2013) as one of the 20 People Every Entrepreneur Should Follow. He also made the cover of Inc. magazine in a feature on How to Master the 4 Big Social-Media Platforms.
In addition to his business acumen and marketing skills, Gary hosts The#AskGaryVee Show, a program designed to provide value by means of answering questions about social media, business building, entrepreneurship, etc. He is also a New York Times best-selling author and has penned the likes of:
Besides running VaynerMedia and hosting his own show, Gary Vaynerchuk serves as the CEO of the holding company VaynerX, is a partner in VaynerSports, and shares his ongoing journey in his vlog #DailyVee.
Gary also serves on the board of a number of organisations and is a Well Member of Charity:Water.
Gary’s energy and passion were the key reasons his digital marketing has been so successful. He brings this same energy and passion, together with his consummate knowledge and understanding of marketing, to his talks.
