High Profile UK Businesswoman & Star of ‘The Apprentice’
Karren Brady, Baroness Brady of Knightsbridge, CBE is one of the UK’s highest-profile business women, a star on television’s ‘The Apprentice’ and Vice-Chairman of English Premier League team West Ham United FC.
Karren’s career began in advertising sales straight after leaving school when she joined advertising giants Saatchi & Saatchi, and then quickly moved to Sport Newspapers Ltd, where she became a Director within a year. When the club went into receivership she famously persuaded her then boss of Sport Newspapers, David Sullivan to purchase it for £1 and install her as Managing Director.
Four years later, when she had turned the club around with a market value of £25million she became the youngest managing director of a UK publicly listed company when she floated the club on the London Stock Exchange. She left the club with a value of £81million having sold it to David Sullivan and David Gold. They appointed Karren Vice-Chairman and negotiated the team’s move to Olympic Stadium.
Karren is also a Senior Non-Executive Director on the board of Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment and a Non-Executive Chairman of Sir Philip Green’s Taveta. She has served on the boards of Mothercare, Arcadia, Channel 4 and Sport England. She is an active member of the Lords and a Government small business ambassador and advises the parliamentary Women in Sport Advisory Board.
She has written autobiographies, business books and novels, and contributes to a range of national media titles.
Karren Brady – Speaker
Karen is an entrepreneur and salesperson by nature. Her keynotes will resonate on the obstacles that she has overcome in order to achieve success. The fear of failure and hunger are central to Karren’s success and the importance of harnessing these elements is transcended to the audience.
‘the feedback on your presentation at our Monaco conference has been exceptional. It certainly seems that you struck a chord with our staff, many of whom have said your presentation was both the highlight of the weekend and a really motivational experience’
'Karren’s after luncheon speech was informative, motivational, humorous where needed and highly inspirational. She also agreed to a Q&A session as well and spent 30-40 minutes answering questions from the audience. The audience all commented on what an excellent speaker she was, how warm and engaging and extremely humorous. By far one of the best speakers we have enjoyed at City Luncheon. 10 out of 10.
