A partner of Centennial Group International and Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Centennial Asia Advisors, Manu Bhaskaran has over forty years of experience in the Asian economic, risk assessment, and forecasting sphere.
His role these days sees him co-ordinate the Asian business of Centennial Asia Advisors. The group provides independent economic research on both Asian political and macroeconomic trends for a wide range of parties. These include government agencies, investment institutions, multilateral institutions, and any companies with invested interests in Asia.
As an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Singapore’s Institute of Policy Studies, he focuses on analysing Singapore’s macroeconomic policy frameworks.
Formerly the Chief Economist of a leading international investment bank, his tenure there saw him manage its Singapore-based economic advisory group. Manu Bhaskaran also helped establish the bank’s business presence throughout Southeast and South Asia while focusing on the development of their economic and equity research. While working for the Singapore government, he supervised a team involved in preparing strategic political and economic assessments about Asia for various high-profile government officials.
Amongst the various positions held in public service, Many Bhaskaran counts those of Chairman of a high-level government committee focused on moneylending regulation in Singapore. He also serves as a member of Singapore’s Competition Appeals Board, is a Trustee of the Asia Foundation, a member of the Regional Advisory Board of the International Monetary Fund, is Vice-President of the Economics Society of Singapore, and various others.
With regards to his education, Manu Bhaskaran obtained an MA from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and is a chartered financial analyst. He is also the bestselling author of “Re-Inventing the Asian Model: The Case of Singapore”.
As a sought-after conference speaker, Many Bhaskaran focuses on the macroeconomic development in Asian economies and their political risk assessments. He lives in Singapore and presents in English.
