Economist Dr. Marc Faber is author of the monthly investment newsletter The Gloom Boom & Doom Report. Swiss-born, Marc operates his business from Hong Kong.

As a young man, Marc raced for the Swiss National Ski Team and earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Zurich.

The 1970’s saw Faber work for White Weld & Company Limited in New York City, Zurich, and Hong Kong. The latter portion of the 70’s had the enigmatic economist working as managing director at Drexel Burnham Lambert Ltd Hong Kong, although 1990 saw him set up his own business in the region, i.e. Marc Faber Ltd.

Marc’s business provides investment advisory services to financial institutions, family offices, financial institutions, and individuals who have a high net worth on a global scale. He is also the portfolio manager for many of these institutions and individuals.

Because of his expertise and in-depth knowledge of the geographical regions, Marc serves as a shareholder, director, or board member of a number of funds and companies, including Leopard Capital’s Leopard Cambodia Fund and Asia Frontier Capital Ltd.’s AFC Asia Frontier Fund.

A consummate writer, Marc publishes a monthly newsletter on his website The Gloom Boom & Doom Report (an in-depth economic and financial publication that highlights investment opportunities on a global scale), as well as an online subscription Monthly Market Commentary. He has also contributed to Forbes, International Wealth, Financial Intelligence, Swiss Radio, Die Welt, AME Info, and the Wall Street Journal. He is regularly asked to comment on financial issues by a host of broadcasting media.

In spite of his hectic schedule, Marc Faber is the author of a number of books, including Tomorrow’s Gold: Asia’s Age of Discovery, and the co-author (with Mani Kiran), of Riding the Millenial Storm: Marc Faber’s Path to Profit in the Financial Markets.
