Former Airbnb Head of HR – Employee experience expert – helping unlock employees’ talents and passions
North America
A seasoned, globally-minded employee experience leader, Mark Levy works for companies to help them unleash their employees’ talents and passions. His early career saw him work with Levi Strauss, Gap Inc., and Best Buy, amongst others. He also spent two years in Paris where he worked for Thomson/Technicolor.
His more recent work-life experience was spent as a pioneer in the design of the Employee Experience at Airbnb. Due to his efforts, Airbnb has created significant changes in the way organisations across the globe look at expanding HR functions to focus on an employee’s entire work journey. The scope includes traditional HR functions as well as a broader team focus on social impact, culture, and the workplace.
While at Airbnb, Mark Levy helped to further the company’s mission of creating a world where you can belong anywhere. This he did through the Employee Experience Mission whereby employees felt they belonged at the company. In 2016 Glassdoor recognised the work done by him and his team by naming them the #1 Place to Work that year.
Concerning his education, he has a JD/MBA from the University of Colorado. He has served on the Gap Foundation Board of Directors and is currently on the Board of First Graduates. The latter, a non-profit, helps those first in their family attend and graduate college.
Someone who knows how to build a world-class company culture while unleashing a team’s talents, Mark Levy is the current Head of Employee Experience at Allbirds. According to Mark, “Growth by design means that you are thoughtful and deliberate in how you grow. It’s important to have employees who at their core understand the values, mission, and culture of your company so that your expansion is thoughtful and built in a way that sets up teams for success.”
A sought-after conference speaker, Mark Levy believes companies need to experience a shift in mindset when considering the employee experience. And this shift needs to start with HR, marketing, customer service, and the business at large. He lives in the USA and speaks English, French, and Spanish.
