Chef and Food Systems Activist, Global Goodwill Ambassador
Massimo Bottura is consistently listed as one of the world’s best chefs and is among the ‘2019 TIME 100 most influential people’.
The Italian chef and restaurateur is the patron chef of Osteria Francescana. This 3-star Michelin restaurant, ranked amongst the 50 best in the world, received the first spot in this restaurant category in 2018.
Massimo Bottura developed his passion for food and cooking from a young age. When old enough, he apprenticed under various virtuoso chefs before opening his own, famed restaurant. But his cooking artistry is not only confined to Italy. He owns restaurants in Turkey and has hotel partnerships in Dubai as well. All this bears testament to his influence.
Widely acclaimed for his food artistry, Massimo Bottura is a recognized food ambassador and often a guest of honour at various food festivals. His Instagram series Kitchen Quarantine has gained him added fame across the globe.
Together with Lara Gilmore, Massimo Bottura founded ‘Food for Soul’, a non-profit organization that aims to empower socially responsive actions fostering inclusivity and that supports a healthy equitable, and sustainable food system. Together with their global network of non-profit partners, the organization helps operate Refettorio projects across the globe with the aim to demonstrate the value of hospitality, the power of beauty, and to share quality ideas that fuel social change. Each project is unique with its own design perspectives and artistic expression that shine a light on the customs and traditions of the area. Refettorio community kitchens act against reducing food loss and waste by transforming these surplus ingredients into nourishing meals for those experiencing food insecurity and isolation. At the same time, these kitchens offer food education and job training to those most socially vulnerable.
The exceptionally talented Massimo Bottura is also the author of two books, ‘Never Trust A Skinny Italian Chef’ and ‘Bread is Gold’. He is also, together with Scot Conant, the co-author of Pasta, a comprehensive book on this much-loved Italian staple.
As a speaker, Massimo Bottura is available for virtual and corporate events, including cooking masterclasses. Many companies, during the COVID period, would like to say a ‘thank you’ to their teams. One of his masterclasses or talks will fulfil this purpose perfectly. Massimo lives in Italy and presents in both English and Italian.
