Conference speaker Pankaj Ghemawat is the Anselmo Rubiralta Professor of Global Strategy at IESE Business School in Barcelona. He is also the Global Professor of Management and Strategy and the Director of the Centre for the Globalisation of Education and Management at New York University’s Stern School of Business. He was on the faculty at Harvard Business School from 1983 to 2008 and, in 1991, became a full professor. Pankaj Ghemawat was the youngest person in the school’s history to be appointed in this position.
Widely regarded as one of the world’s top management thinkers, Pankaj Ghemawat was included in the 2008 The Economist publication where he was named one of the greatest management thinkers of all time. He is also ranked amongst the top twenty management thinkers by Thinkers 50. Amongst other honours received, Pankaj Ghemawat includes the: Booz Eminent Scholar Award of the International Management Division of the Academy of Management, the McKinsey Award for the best article published in the Harvard Business Review, and the Irwin Educator of the Year award from the Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy of Management.
Besides his teaching and speaking engagements, Pankaj Ghemawat is also a widely published author. His book The Laws of Globalization, which was published in 2016, should, according to The Economist, “be read by anyone who wants to understand the most important economic development of our time.”
The principal author of the biennial DHL Global Connectedness Index and Chairman of the Foundation for Practice and Research in Strategic Management, Pankaj Ghemawat has served on the AACSB task force as well. The AACSB is the leading accreditation body for business schools focussing on the globalisation of management education.
