Paolo Scaroni is the current deputy chairman of the Rothschild Group. He is also the current chairman of AC Milan. He took over the helm at the club and is eager to return it to its former glory.
Regarded as one of the most influential Italian businessmen, he is a board member at Columbia Business School in New York, as well as at Ingostrakh. The latter is a major Russian insurance company.
With regards to his education, Paolo Scaroni graduated with a degree in economics from Bocconi University in Milan. After completing his degree, he worked at Chevron before obtaining his MBA from Columbia University in New York. He continued his degree at McKinsey before, in 1973, joining Saint Gobain where he held several management positions. The period 1985 to 1996 saw him as Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Techint before joining Pilkington as Chief Executive Officer. He followed this by a stint as the Chairman of Alliance Unichem.
Upon returning to Italy, Paolo Scaroni took up the position of CEO at Enel, the Spanish energy company. He was appointed to the position in the hopes he would have the same success as he had at Pilkington.
In 2014, he joined the Rothschild Group, serving as a Deputy Director on the Board of Directors. He still holds this position. Amongst other positions held, includes that of Non-Executive Deputy Chairman of the London Stock Exchange Board of Directors and was a Non-Executive Member of the Board of Directors at Assicurazioni Generali and Veolia Environnement. He also serves on the board of the Fondazione Teatro alla Scala and was made a commander of the French Legion of Honour in 2013.
