Futurist and business builder Sophie Hackford has the ability to both synthesise and interconnect the newest technologies and breakthroughs in science.
Sophie was responsible for launching and running WIRED magazine’s consulting business where she brought entrepreneurs into the boardroom and spent two years at Singular University in Silicon Valley. The latter saw her as part of a group at NASA research park who were tasked with the job of understanding and harnessing potential technologies. She has also done a stint at Oxford University where she brought in funding of over $120 million for the Oxford Martin School, a futures research group.
Sophie is currently, besides taking on speaking engagements, involved in a research programme aimed at discovering different tech breakthroughs and investigating the social contexts in which they are used. The aim of the programme is the mapping of these technologies by means of using different criteria, such as demographics, geopolitics, and economics in an effort to understand the interconnected challenges and opportunities they may afford.
Sophie’s bubbling personality has made her a favorite at diverse speaking engagements. Amongst her many talks, she counts Conde Nast Paris (Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, etc.), the Fashion Tech Forum (NYC), the JLL real estate conference (London), B2B E-commerce Avensia (Stockholm), and the Magnetic conference for media industry (Manchester and London).
“I cannot tell you how much positive feedback I have had from your presentation yesterday”
“You will be gratified to hear that your talk was voted in the top 3 of the event – and was certainly the most quoted.”
